How you can help
Your gift is very important to the future of the Pender Harbour Abbeyfield House and the Area A Seniors Housing Project. We appreciate and acknowledge every gift we receive and try to make giving an easy task. You can make your gift by direct donation, through our annual campaign, through our twice-yearly direct mail program, an In Memoriam card or through a Planned Gift. If you are employed with a company that matches individual contributions, your gift will double and the seniors who will call Abbeyfield "home" will benefit greatly.

Planned Giving Program
The Area A Seniors Housing Project, a registered not for profit society, welcomes donors to this program. You may choose to benefit the society using one or more gift planning methods:

Bequest
A bequest is a gift by will. It is a giving option that easily accommodates personal and financial interests. You can take into account specific financial considerations when you make a gift through your will. You have the advantage of arranging a gift to the Area A Seniors Housing Project now, while still maintaining your future financial security.

Life Insurance
A gift of life insurance is an affordable way for you to leave a lasting and significant legacy economically. With appropriate planning, it may also lower probate fees and income taxes to your estate.

Real Estate
A gift of real estate may allow you to make a substantial difference to the future of the P.H. Abbeyfield House without touching your liquid assets. Such a gift will result in a tax receipt for the fair market value and your cash flow may actually increase without the upkeep costs you are paying now. Or perhaps you would like to gift your real estate while continuing to live there as long as you wish. You would still need to pay the upkeep costs, but the immediate tax relief could assist with the costs of maintaining the property while you continue to occupy it.

Marketable Securities
A gift of marketable securities is a simple way to support the building of our PH Abbeyfield House.. Appreciated stocks and bonds, next to cash have become the most popular gifts made to charity because they offer you new and immediate tax advantages as well as preferred tax rates.

Annuity
An Annuity is a unique gift plan that enables you to make a significant gift and enjoy the benefit of added security of receiving guaranteed income for the rest of your life. When the tax advantages are considered, you may find that your net return is actually higher through a gift annuity than what you'd earn on a similar sum invested in a vehicle such as a GIC.

Should you choose to benefit the A Seniors Housing Project using one or more of the gift planning methods outlined above, please see your Financial Planner, your bank, or your Credit Union for more information on specific programs offered.
