Members of the Area A Seniors Housing Project come from all walks of life but share one important goal: we are committed to caring for our area’s seniors. We propose to do this by establishing and maintaining a non-profit home for older residents of the Pender Harbour and Egmont region of the Sunshine Coast. The group was first organised in 1990, but in 2003 we intensified our search for models of Seniors Housing that would work in a community the size of Pender Harbour. This resulted in a Vision for Seniors Housing which has two components: an Abbeyfield House and Cluster Housing. We have now joined the Abbeyfield Society of Canada and have received generous support in the form of information and advice from the BC and national groups. A local developer took on the Cluster Housing part of the project and is currently building Lily Lake Homes, an owner-purchased 55+ development. The future Abbeyfield and the cluster homes are located in Lily Lake Village on Lagoon Road. |
| Pender
Harbour Abbeyfield House, a non-profit facility to be built on land adjacent
to Lily Lake Village's Activity Centre, will be home for ten senior residents.
The modest rental fee will include all meals and utilities (excluding
telephone and cablevision). A live-in administrator will shop, cook and
oversee daily needs. |
